How SuperCitizen collects, uses, and protects your information — and the choices you have.
Last updated July 3, 2026
Who we are
SuperCitizen, Inc. (“SuperCitizen,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 42-3054761). This policy explains what information we collect through supercitizen.org and our services, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, contact us at [email protected].
Information we collect
- Information you give us. Your name, email address, and — if you choose to provide it — your mobile phone number and the contents of messages you send us through our contact form or by email.
- Account information. If you create an account, we store the details needed to sign you in and secure your account.
- Donation information. Donations are processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We receive a record of the donation (amount, date, and related details) but we do not collect or store your full card number on our servers.
- Technical information. Standard log and device data such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited, used to operate and secure the site.
How we use your information
- To respond to your messages and provide support.
- To operate your account and send account and service notices (including, if you opt in, by text message).
- To process and acknowledge donations and issue receipts.
- To keep the site secure, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your information for third-party advertising.
Mobile messaging (SMS)
SuperCitizen offers an optional text-messaging program, SuperCitizen Account & Service Messages. It is account-based and transactional only: if you opt in, we may send you account and service text messages — such as sign-in and verification codes, donation receipts, and replies to support requests. We do not send marketing, promotional, or fundraising text messages.
Opting in. You opt in by giving us your mobile number and affirmatively agreeing to receive texts — for example, by checking the consent box on our contact form, in your account settings, or by asking our support team. Consent is not a condition of any purchase or donation. The program is available to U.S. mobile numbers; you must be the account holder or an authorized user of the number you provide, and old enough to consent under your carrier’s rules and applicable law.
Frequency & cost. Message frequency varies. We send texts in response to your activity — such as a sign-in attempt, a donation, or a support request — rather than on a set schedule. Message and data rates may apply. Message and data rates are set by your mobile carrier and are your responsibility; SuperCitizen does not charge you for text messages.
Opting out & help. You can cancel at any time by replying STOP to any of our messages. We will send one confirmation message and then stop texting that number; to opt back in, provide your consent again. Reply HELP for help, or contact us at [email protected] or (540) 779-1296. Opting out of texts does not affect your account, your email, or your ability to contact us. Message delivery depends on your carrier’s network and is not guaranteed.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing with subcontractors who provide support services on our behalf, such as customer service, is permitted. All other categories of use exclude text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
Your mobile opt-in and consent are never shared, sold, or rented to any third party or affiliate for their own marketing or promotional purposes.
How we share information
We share personal information only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers. Vendors who process data on our behalf and under contract — for example, our payment processor (Stripe), our email delivery provider, and our hosting and infrastructure providers — solely to provide services to us.
- Legal and safety. When required by law, to respond to lawful requests, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or SuperCitizen.
- Organizational changes. In connection with a merger, acquisition, or transfer of assets, subject to this policy.
As stated above, text-messaging opt-in data and consent are excluded from all sharing and are never disclosed to third parties for their marketing purposes.
Data retention & security
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described here or as required by law, and then delete or de-identify it. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
- Email. You can unsubscribe from non-essential email at any time using the link in the message or by emailing us.
- Text messages. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help. Opting out of texts does not affect your account.
- Access & deletion. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing [email protected].
Children’s privacy
Our services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
